The next Boots ‘n’ Buckles big event is the 30th birthday, Friday, July 25, 2014, held at the Swiss Park Dance Hall, Newark, CA (where it all started back in 1984). [According to Charlotte, as a founder, and the founders should know beyond anything else] In 1984 Charlotte Skeeters and Neil Hale were part of a small group of dancers who founded BnB with CW Parker heading it up. After about a year, things really got started with Charlotte & Neil (C&N) teaching there. That was in 1985. BnB held a 20th year “reunion” with C&N in 2005, celebrating their 20th year of teaching and really putting BnB on the map. C&N were a huge influence making BnB known as “the place to dance.” Bottom line is: The birth of BnD in 1984, becoming well known as “the place”, 1985.
I’ve been dancing at BnB for the last 23 of the 30 years, so I hope to see a lot of folks from back then as well as now and anywhere in between. We’ll play oldies but goodies, long time favorites, and newer. Dance is 8-11 pm, doors will open around 7:00 pm, dance lesson from 7:30-8:00 by Charlotte Skeeters (one of the founders of BnB!). Evelyn & Denny will be the DJ’s.
